Gentle Stretches

here’s how:

If you prefer restorative movement,
try taking a lesson from yoga (or tai chi). A popular relaxing posture in yoga is called “child’s pose”.

  • Kneel on carpeting or a mat. Rest your seat on your heels.

  • Lean forward, stretching your body down so your stomach is on your thighs and your forehead is resting on the ground.

  • Stretch your arms forward, or bring them down against your body so your hands are touching your feet - your preference.

  • Rest in this position, letting your body sink into the earth.

  • Hold for a few minutes, inviting a sensation of inner relaxation.

Here’s Why:

Doing even a few yoga poses, such as child's pose or cat-cow, is an excellent way to improve flexibility, release deep tension, and relax your mind.

Child’s pose stretches your lower back, hips, thighs, knees and ankles while also relaxing your neck. Check out ‘Yoga with Adriene’ on YouTube for wonderful free routines you can do at home in under 30 min.
